Baby turtles (or hatchlings) start out as eggs that are laid in nests on beaches around the world. The baby sea turtles have an egg tooth or caruncle which they use to break the eggshell, come out of the eggs and enter the water. Instead of teeth, these chelonians have strong beaks with which they bite, tear, and chew.
